The GWTA will be sponsoring a QuickStart tennis program over six weekends from September 18 to October 23. There will be an Introductory program for children ages 6-10 and an Instructional program for children 11-14. Laney Tops Tarboro to Kick off High School Tennis Season |

The Laney Women's Tennis Team defeated Tarboro 5-4 in their 2010 season opener. Laney singles players Ashleigh Antal, Leigh-Anne McAfee and Louisa Cone claimed the top three singles courts in straight sets and doubles teams Antal/McAfee and Cone/Bugbee added doubles wins to cinch the match. Next up for the Buccaneers will be Durahm Academy on Friday, August 20 at 3:30pm. |

If you are a 6th - 8th grade girl and interested in tennis the time for you has come. We will be starting our 9th season of girls' middle school tennis at the end of this month. Experience is not necessary to participate. Each team will have at least one practice and one match per week. Teams will be formed around the local middle schools; however they are not school teams. This is a GWTA after school league for middle school girls only.

USTA Membership
Many of our USTA sanctioned leagues require USTA membership to participate. You can join the USTA via their web site. You can also renew your USTA membership over the phone with FAX confirmation by calling 1-800-990-USTA. Don't wait till the last moment! All memberships must be current through the end of league play.

| On Saturday, September 11th, 2010 we are planning a grand opening celebration for the new tennis center. The celebration will include:
A Tennis Carnival for children, 10 am to 12 noon
A QuickStart Tennis Tournament for children, 8 am to 12 noon
A Junior Team Tennis Tournament, 8 am to 12 noon
A World Team Tennis Tournament, 8 am to 8 pm
