GWTA Hosts QuickStart Tennis Carnival PDF  | Print |  E-mail
Quick Start CarnivalGWTA conducted the first QuickStart tennis carnival for kids ages 6-a4 on Saturday, March 6 at Porters Neck Country Club and at Echo Farms Country Club.

87 kids participated at Porters Neck and 75 at Echo Farms. This was the biggest carnival ever in Wilmington and all the kids had a first look at the new Quick Start Format. This format was used in Europe for the last 20 years but it is new for the USA.

Kids under 8 play on a smaller court (we divide one tennis court to 4 smaller court) and use a foam (Nerf) balls. Kids under 10, play on a court where is lines are about 15 feet smaller than regular court and they use pressurized balls. This helps the kids learn the game much faster and with more control.

A special thank you to Rod Badakhsh and the Echo Farms gang and to Kendrick Bunn, Allen Farfour and all the volunteers at Porters Neck.
