ustaRules

All special league rules are contained in this document.  Print it out and keep it in your tennis bag!

Playing On More Than One Level

Once again, players will be allowed to play on more than one level within a league. Scheduling concessions will not be made for players who play on more than one level. Please beware that at the State Championships you can only play on one team at the adult level and one team at the senior level. You cannot play on two teams at the adult level or two teams at the senior level.

General League Information

The league is played with a combined format. The National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) is the official system of rating levels of competition in this program. Players with a computer rating must use that rating or above in the combined format. Players who do not have a Dynamic NTRP rating are allowed to self-rate according to the NTRP Guidelines.
Results of the mixed doubles league will not effect players with a current dynamic NTRP rating unless it is the only league you play in. Those players that self-rate and only play USA Mixed Doubles will have a rating generated at the end of the season and must use it for future league play.

The levels offered are Adults 5.0 - 10.0, where each mixed doubles team's combined ratings may not exceed the level at which the team has entered.  No individual team can be separated by more than 1.0 in NTRP level.

To play in the:
  • 5.0 level, your rating cannot exceed 2.5
  • 6.0 level, your rating cannot exceed 3.5
  • 7.0 level, your rating cannot exceed 4.0
  • 8.0 level, your rating cannot exceed 4.5
  • 9.0 level, your rating cannot exceed 5.0
  • 10.0 level, your rating cannot exceed 5.5
The combined levels of each doubles pair cannot exceed the level of the team, but it can be less than the level (ex. combined ratings equal 7.5 - eligible to play at 8.0 level)

A team is made up of a minimum of six players (3 men and 3 women). No team may have more than 14 players.

All adult division players must be 19 years old or older by December 31, 2005. All Senior division players must be 50 years old or older by December 31, 2005.

There are three mixed doubles matches per team match. A round robin format will be played at each level in which every team plays every other team a minimum of one time to determine the winner. The number of teams at each level will determine the number of times you play each team. Matches are played on weekday nights and weekends on public courts and at private clubs if club teams participate.
