Two Wilmington Teams Make Coaches' Top Ten PDF  | Print |  E-mail

The Hoggard and New Hanover Women's Tennis teams both made the top ten in the Week 1 NCHSTCA Div. 4A Coaches' Poll released last week. Hoggard received 13 points to come in 7th with New Hanover just behind them at 9th with nine points.  The 2-1 Vikings start conference play September 9 at New Bern.  The Wildcats face Ashley on September 10.

Cape Fear Academy Defeats O'Neal School to Start Conference Play PDF  | Print |  E-mail
The Cape Fear Academy Varsity Girls "A" team posted a 9-0 win over the O'Neal School on Tuesday to open CFIC 2-A conference play.  Combined with a 7-0 sweep of Parrott Academy last Friday, the Hurricanes completed a 3-0 (1-0 in conference) road trip without losing a court.  Thursday's match against Ashley was cancelled due to weather.  Next up for CFA is another in conference, away match versus Fayetteville Christian School on September 7th.
 
Laney Sweeps Topsail in Women's Tennis PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Laney's Women's Tennis team swept Topsail 9-0 in non-conference play on Monday.  The  Buccaneers move to 2-1 on the season.  Topsail will be back for a rematch Sept. 8th at Laney 4:00.

Landfall Junior Team Captures Southern Section Title PDF  | Print |  E-mail
The Landfall Country Club 18 and Under Advanced Team captured the Southern Junior Team Championship in Mobile August 20-22.  The team coached by Jon Ingham defeated a team from LIttle Rock, Arkansas to take the title and earn the right to represent the Southern Section in the National Tournament October 28-31 in Surprise, Arizona.  Congratulations to team members A.J. Stilwell, Alex Gaines, Alexander Gianoplus, Ashleigh Antal, Danielle McGee, Mckayla Zupan, Miller Hales, Smith Hinton, Tom Hicks and William Kent.

Cape Fear Sweeps Ashley in Season Opener PDF  | Print |  E-mail
The Cape Fear Academy's varsity "A" tennis team defeated Ashley High School 9-0 Thursday afternoon in the season opener for both teams. The non-conference match was a great opportunity for the beginning players on both teams, giving every player the chance to play at least one match. Friday, Cape Fear will face Parrott Academy, expected to be one of CFA's toughest opponents of the season.  Next up for Ashley is a rematch with Cape Fear Academy on September 2.
